Thank you for that explantion Oy vay, I never imagined CC would be so involved.
#Sims 3 cc merged how to
It is then up to you to decide how to fix the problem. It doesn't fix the conflicts but it does tell you which files are conflicting and which files they conflict with. It usually does, but I have too much CC from a couple of makers to be able to do this so I cope with the conflicts between their own packages by hoping for the best as I've got rid of all the CC I want to get rid of from them and the packages end up being several GB in size if I combine everything in one package. When I get conflicts with the same maker I tend to try to combine all the packages with conflicts from that maker and hope that fixes the problem. (sometimes) And it is easy to see if they are different files or the same file used multiple times. When I have two files with the same name I take them into S3PE and have a look at what's inside them. The file names are long lists of letters and numbers like you find in DCBackup folder. The problem with conflicts is that apparently two different people who make CC can have two different files with the same name and if you have that sort of conflict it can cause issues and is a rare occurrence.

I have examined the way S3PE works though and it gets rid of the extra versions of the same file. But I've never read a good explanation of how it works - just lots of warnings about making sure there are no conflicts.
#Sims 3 cc merged zip file
The zip file includes also a list of all the merged files, so you can eventually replace any single packages file you already own with the corresponding merged file.

Unzip in your Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 3 / Mods / Packages folder. When you combine packages it uses one of those files and delete the rest of them and that's how the package ends up smaller than all the individual original files. CCIcolopolisMerged (375 mb): it contains ALL the necessary CC, merged into few packages files. It seems conflicts occur when there is a file with the same name in two different packages. Just whatever I downloaded at that time were grouped by "type" (ie hair, furniture, clothes, makeup, etc) and merged.ĭo I need to worry about cc conflicting while merged? And would I know it? What do you guys mean when you say "conflicts"? Would I know if there is a conflict? Cause I just threw a bunch of hairs together, a bunch of furniture together.
